The Mixed Border featured on
The Victory Garden Season Premiere
The Mixed Border Nursery and Gardens, in Hollis, NH, was featured in the season premier of PBS’ The Victory Garden, aired locally on September 13th. A crew from the popular gardening show visited the specialty retail nursery this summer to tape a segment themed “What’s old is new”.
According to horticulturist and nursery co-owner Doug Gagne, “It was an honor and a thrill to talk about some truly special plants with Paul Epsom, the show’s Garden Correspondent. He and the production crew made it easy to be in front of the camera. It was a lot of fun.”
Hilary Finkel, producer of The Victory Garden, was initially attracted to the nursery after visiting its web site, which led to her traveling to view the business in person. She stated, “As soon as I saw the nursery, I knew we had a great segment on our hands...I know Paul thought so as well.”
The Mixed Border has been in operation since 1995, specializing in hardy plants rarely found in nurseries. The Victory Garden has been on the air since 1975. It is aired locally on WGBH Channel 2 and WENH Channel 11. |
